After 2 sets of 8 hour Animations sessions, Rigorous months of planning, It is finally finished. Here it is! I present "The Thief" After hitting some rookie mistakes, I had to revisit the initial set and make it a bit more accessible for my characters as their would of been some silly collision issues, here is the new one.
After adding colour and placing the pieces together, ere are the finished characters, pre-rig. Really wanted the whole animation to have a authentic "Sketched" feel so i set out on hand drawing every element to the characters and the set.
Ever since the change in brief, i have been racking my head trying to find a new idea for the new 15 second stair scene. I finally set my sights on a thief being caught in the act. After weeks, and i mean weeks of decided what the hell the characters should look like, i settled on these 2.
I also made some character model sheets to later go into photoshop so i can rig them in After Effects, which will be my main animation tool along with maybe a little flash. Today is the start of my set design creation. Started by making the base stage then creating separate details. Decided to take it one step at a time. Doing the sofas in the bar first and then making the Puppet skeletons so they match the size for the set. After Much tossing and turning with the idea i had and how i was going to implement it, I came to the conclusion that my mind is so intently focused on 2D animation that i was completely ignoring the chance to have a go at something new.
I am not very confident in Puppet making and stop motion so i thought, what better way is there than to put myself under pressure to learn and create something in this technique. So thats what I'm going to do! Ive decided to make a paper Mache set, which will include the outside and inside of the Bar. And use puppets made from Aluminium Wire, Wooden Dowels, Styrofoam and Plasticine. Here are my stage plans initial stage plans and some rough skeletal plans for the characters. After getting in touch with some class mates. Me, izaak Kidd and Alex Thomson decided to join as a group, we looked over my initial solo work and decided to use it as a base line and divided up the sections between us. I was tasked with creating the middle section of the storyboard but in more detail. Such as camera movements and setting. |
